Master Your Mind and Let Your Body Follow

Being aware of what is happening internally is just as important as understanding what is occurring around us. Man is a thinking center and before every action or reaction, there must first be a thought. Our thoughts dictate all of our beliefs and actions. We cannot think of something if we do not know that thing exists. When one begins to have an awareness of what the mind is “thinking” at any time or place, the journey has officially begun. Now, one will be able to train the skill of being able to increase the amount of time between a stimulus and a reaction. Exercising the mind is a life changing practice, and even though at times it may feel like a whole lot of nothingness, have faith that it will lead to abundance.

Taming the mind is a lifelong journey that takes mighty effort. The mind becomes more complex over time, and it is important to be flexible as you navigate the process of learning to get in harmony with your thoughts and emotions. Incorporating mindfulness into your routine for at least five minutes, 1-2 times a week is our recommendation. Fully embracing the power of the mind will provide the focus and discipline to execute your vision.

Developed societies are caught up in a fiercely competitive struggle that is persistent, exhausting and high stakes. These factors contribute to a build up of negative stress that leads to an increase in cortisol levels. Cortisol is the hormone that activates the body’s fight-or-flight response, which is a natural response to perceived threats. At times, it feels like life is stress, but it is important to remember that how we relate to any moment is up to us. We need to understand the causes of one’s negative stress and also discover how to incorporate healthy stressors into one’s practice. The healthy stress, or eustress, is a beneficial stress exerted on the body that can lead to impactful changes in our biology. The idea is that these low level challenging stressful events can allow us to extend life and improve our health through the process of hormesis.

There are various environmental and physiological stressors that can activate the longevity genes without damaging the cell. This includes various types of exercise, nutritional protocols and exposure to both hot and cold temperatures. These forms of hormesis, utilized in proper doses, can have a positive impact on improving health-span. When these low dose stressful events occur, it prompts the system to hunker down, conserve and survive a little longer.
